More tank cars are always a good thing! Oddly, I seem to like the generic yellow Tomy tank cars best of all. I indulge in this fantasy of building an oil and gas terminal with a yard full of tank cars one day.
Yes, an Oil & Gas Terminal full of tankers would be cool. Hurry up and build it...I will clear it with your wife.
I think this out of print set is called Thomas and Mirthful Freight Cars Set which I don't understand why because Thomas has a miffed or annoyed look on his face and is not very mirthful. I always thought this set would be a neat addition to a Thomas collection but I was never that interested in it. That is until I learned that this set is the only one a white Troublesome Tanker came with. Then add to that I liked the little pine tree cargo, the dark brown angry faced S.C.Ruffey, the three vehicles on their flatbeds and the miffed faced Thomas I just reconsidered and thought this to be a perfect addition to the Future World Collection. You see these sets appear a lot used on the Japan Auctions but not so often New in its box like this one. As much as I was surprised about how small the box for Stephenson's the Spy Train Car's Set above, I was extremely surprised at how large and heavy this set is. I feel lucky to have nabbed it.

"Honey, Super from BPT said it was okay for me to buy a bunch of stuff and build a huge Plarail oil terminal!" LOL Actually, the big stumbling block is trying build track layouts with my kids around. Obviously they want to help and that always makes it a challenge, to say the least. You sure it doesn't translate as "Thomas and the Angry Freight Cars"? That would make far more sense based on the description of the faces on the wagons Incidentally I'm pretty sure I've got this set among my ever growing collection, I know I have one if not the same very similar and I agree for the price I paid its way bigger and heavier than you'd think it would be!!
Happily collecting things all my life...
It may be called that as I only went by what they called it at Hobby Search http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10048822
There is also another set that looks close to this one and easier to get that had me fooled a couple of times. It is called the Thomas & Many Freight Car Set http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10146993 (03-17-2017, 08:17 PM)Super Wrote: It may be called that as I only went by what they called it at Hobby Search http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10048822 is this the set that features a face on the white tanker?
nice finds, super. i think that freight cars set has a grouchy thomas because when the trucks are mirthful, they are generally causing havoc for the engines.
