Yes...they are pretty much the same except for the controller surfaces....Molly has the deck variation, but the Hit Percy has a completely different "sad" face...I will look to see if that is all..

Very cool. Thanks for the info. This may explain why the seller had issues getting them to run, if they had a 2006 version engine and were trying to use the 2009 remote, etc...

In looking at one of the pics I took I can see two different Percy's so now I need to track down the remotes..

Yes there is another variation of Thomas. (actually 2)
There is a 2006 HitToys flipface Thomas (smiling/surprised) that uses a baby blue controller.
And 2 variation of the standard face model:
2006 Hit w/painted deck.
2009 FP w/o painted deck.
Each of these uses a red controller that is identical to James', except it has a blue "gauges" sticker pannel decals on the sides along with Thomas' name, where as James decals are all red.

Are you saying the 2006 and 2009 are flip face? I knew of the flip face which uses the controller you describe that I believe came in the tidmuth sheds set. And then I knew of a 2006 regular R/C Thomas with normal blue remote ( shiny and smooth texture) then the 2009 with also had an all blue remote (rough/matte texture).

I am unable to upload photos on this thread, so I will post them in the "General"..

Wow.. very interesting. So do you have one of the rough/matte finish 2009 all blue Thomas remotes?

Is there only the one flip face Thomas or multiple?
