Came across this great TV Documentary about this guys efforts into building an Outdoor Railway in his backyard. It starts with the design and continues until a grand opening. I am not sure if this fellow, Mark Found, is a TV personality in the UK but he is a jolly chap who injects humor and is very entertaining. The entire TV series is on 15 Episodes on YouTube. Each episode is about 23 minutes long. He uses the very best in experienced builders and train aficionados. In each episode he travels around the UK and visits two or three of the very best in Outdoor/Garden Railways getting help while also showing all the different ways and ideas of how to do it. There were at least a dozen if not more. He even visited the Bekonscot Railway (mentioned here http://blueplastictracks.com/showthread.php?tid=1712 ) to get a little behind the scenes and to learn from their pro building maker/artist on how to make buildings and to have her make some for his layout.
So if you are tired of the rubbish available on the Telly now-a-days then give this a peek. I was extremely entertained and learned quite a lot.
Here is a link to the first episode with links to all 15 on the right side.

Attn: Nigels, maybe some of these outdoor railways are near you.
