"Wasn't there already a PlaRail Flying Scotsman?  Or was that one of those freakish Fisher Price monstrosities?!?"
it was Fisher Price who made the flying scotsman, a TM2 model and a upcoming one this year which looks way different
I liked tomy ever since I found out about it

I don't think so but my old brain may be playing tricks on me again as it can't think of one. Anyone else want to chime in?

Therealblack64YT was actually quoting Nigels, but anyway, the only Flying Scotsman has been the Mattel TM2/TMR (or whatever you want to call it) abomination.

Personally, if Plarail does create a Flying Scotsman, I hope it doesn't have a face. What do you all think, Face or No Face??

The full quote did ask if it was a Fisher Price monstrosity Smile

Surely with a face if standard PlaRail Thomas range, without a face if they put it into the 'Real' range, maybe both versions if they have any common sense as they could use the same tool set and just produce it either with a face or with a smoke box cover.  If they had any sense they would do a version with both fronts offered as options in the box, maybe magnetically attached then they could please both parties and offer another upgrade path to 'real' trains.  In fact why not do it for the entire PlaRail Thomas range then they could sell to two distinct markets with one product.

I'm surprised that they picked a twin tender version, wasn't that only implemented as such in the USA due to the longer than average distances?

I am not well versed in the Flying Scotsman (well...not in anything) I had always assumed that the train was only in the UK.

After restoration, Flying Scotsman was shipped to the USA in 1969 and ran rail tours in the US and Canada until 1972. The second tender was added in 1966 when FS was operating tours on the LNER main line between Kings Cross and Edinburgh because BR had removed all the water pickup troughs along the way. The second tender remained in use until about 1977.

I have to say that I can't think of any possible reason that TakaraTomy would want to release it in Plarail except as part of the Thomas range.

Thanks Dr Chris for that info, so the US train was nothing more than a nostalgic piece whereas the UK original was a worker, right? Also, was the US version restored only with one Tender as Nigel says?

Could the same be said about this Hogwarts Express or is that not a British train? Personally, even if Plarail made a Thomas Range Flying Scotsman I would assume (hope) that it is much better than that Trackmaster one and then I could.... deface him
