How do you store your trains?

48 Replies, 48818 Views

We have 2 sets of tracks and accessories. Tomy blue and trackmaster brown. The set not being played with is stored in plastic tubs in the shed with track and accessories packed neatly into the same tub-tubs.

The set (track and accessories) being played with is in under-bed rollout wooden Thomas themed boxes.

For the engines we have another under-bed box that I made trays to fit perfectly inside the box. The engines are stored with their matching carriages if we have them. The trains stack side by side in the trays then the trays stack horizontally into the box. We ran out of train space quickly so extras are in flat type fruit boxes with bubble wrap layering them.

Trains that are suitable for display are displayed on wall shelves in the study. We have about 15-20 on display.

We also have a few boxed sets in the cupboard.

Very nice collection and you have the cookie vender (I think that is what he is) I have tried to nab one from Japan but with the agent fees double shipping the price just is too ridiculus for one Plakid. And you have one I have never seen before, he is either Amish or Abraham Lincoln [Image: mischievous-grin-smiley-emoticon.gif]

This is how we store our trains and tracks.

These are our trains. The blue roller box has Thomas characters only. The clear tub and black box has both Thomas and others in them.

There are 3 layers of trays in this roller box. We ran out of space quickly so our other traing are in cardboard trays.

These 2 are for track and accessories that are being played with. We have both Tomy and Trackmaster but don't mix them. They only just fot under the bed by about 10 millimeters so we cant overload them. :-)

We use a bunch of plastic storage tubs to store excess tracks and accessories in the shed.

Oh, Wow! Those Thomas underbed roller boxes are awesome. Did you make the wooden insert trays to fit and stack? What is the white on the bottom of those trays?

Yes, I made the trays. The white is just the coating on the thin (3-5mm) ply board base. I want to make some more tray but haven't had the time to.
