Higashiyama Line N1000 Why So Rare?

I always thought that the Tomy trains with headlights were relatively newer releases so why is this Higashiyama Line N1000 so expensive? Apparently it was released in 2008 for $20 or less.

I'm not so sure but that seems like a limited edition one from the rail company.

Thanks Plarnold
Hi it was a standard retail Limited edition one year long, only release in 2009 during Plarail's 50th Anniversary. I hope this helps.

my New Type 20 Commuter Train with Light Gimmick was a Limited Release of the same year. Remember my New Type 20 we had discussed it before Super.

Hi Super, not lights but those sort of skylights

The front lights are actual light up headlights from battery power. the inset picture shows the rear lights which are skylight type no battery power for rear lights again just like my New Type 20 Commuter.

Yes I do remember talking about that when you received yours. I remember how I wanted to see how those headlights looked due to their location. So do those rear, skylight, type really shine with the ambient light of a room?
Not really sir... not really I will take it out and have a run in well lit sunny dining room and get back to you though.
more of a neat idea than an actual execution. still great looking trains.
