Leyland

After you posted a link to where you post your pictures of your collection I was browsing around and found a picture of this train in the Knock Off Toys section that excited me and hope to know more about it. Never seen this before and I love it. I would really like to know more. By the way, fantastic site you have there.

Sorry super for not responding sooner as I didn't know this thread existed.

Anyways, I acquired this engine from a box set. The box set is consisted of 2 engines, a tender, 2 freight cars, one coach that looks like Henrietta and some tracks (they are compatible to Tomy Tracks). The other engine looks identical to the yellow engine except it is blue. It reminds me of Thomas. I have seen pictures of other engines that resembles Duck and Toby. For Toby it is not motorized. The engines are way bigger than the Tomy/Plarail/Trackmaster engines. I will have the week off. Hopefully I will able to find them and post it here.
super, i have similar trains at this link: http://sunsthomasandfriends.weebly.com/k...-sets.html at a guess, leylands are from the same range as the second style in my link. theres even one the same on the back of one of the boxes.

Thanks guys. These almost look like this company was banking on getting a Thomas franchise and it fell through. The change in numbers might be to avoid infringement legalities. Wow, those motors are pretty lean, how do they run? Are they loud fast? Have a picture of one next to a Tomy train for size? Thanks for sharing this.
will try and get some pics and details in a few days. suddenly gone from no work to heaps, coupled with being unwell last night. i dont recall them being overly loud, but its been a while since i had them out, and when i did it was only a test

they are louder than the trackmaster engines. They also have the red light flashing. In terms of quality, you get what you pay for. The plastic body is extremely thin, you can break down easily. Generally they are faster than the trackmaster engines.
The four with the neat smoke box doors are really cool. I wonder if they could be adapted to a Tomy chassis?
