Quite a nice demo of the Hornby Steam Generator

Came across this on youtube, explains about the engine generally and the steam generator fitted.  Demonstration of it in motion starts best around 15m50s, enjoy!

Wow...that Steam generator is fantastic. I love how its synchronized with the wheels, speed and sound. Love the looks of the Prince of Wales especially those wheels and all the details of the whole engine.
I now have several different locomotives with the sound/smoke generator fitted, so much better than the old style smoke generators that used to use light oil converted to steam by a heater module.  Using just plain water is a much better idea, similar i guess to the Thomas steam generator PlaRail model, except this works better due probably to the higher voltages.  I think they could still learn something from PlaRail though and fit an LED into the funnel as Tomy did as that makes the smoke easier to see...

So far I have the following models with the steam generator/hm7000 DCC system;

LNER, P2 Class, 2-8-2, 2007 'Prince of Wales'
LNER, W1 Class, 4-6-4, 10000 'Hush Hush'
BR, A3 Class, 'Flying Scotsman' With Steam Generator, Diecast Footplate & Flickering Firebox

at some point I need to add a Black 5 to the stable, for some reason I've never got hold of a Black 5 locomotive of any type...
