R.I.P. Britt Allcroft

Britt Allcroft - the creator of Thomas & Friends, Shining Time Station and The Magic Adventures of Mumfie - has passed away at the age of 81.

This was confirmed by her family members to Brannon Carty, director and producer of the documentary An Unlikely Fandom (who knew her personally and featured her in the film). Here's what he had to say about it:

Quote:It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Britt Allcroft.

The Allcroft-Wright family has asked me to bring this news to the Thomas fandom. A full obituary will be released in the London Times later today. The family is currently in mourning and asks that their privacy be respected at this time.

Britt was an adoring mother and wife. A visionary producer. She brought so much joy and happiness to people everywhere during her time on Earth.

Over the years of knowing Britt, we developed a close connection. It was truly a privilege to have her as both a mentor and a friend, and I’m so glad that so many fans were able to meet her at the New York screening of An Unlikely Fandom. It was an absolute honor to have her in our documentary, and she has since remained a vocal supporter of our cause.

I think I can speak for the entirety of the fandom when I say that all of us will deeply miss her. Without her, so many of us would never have met.

As a way to honor Britt's legacy, her family [h]as asked that you consider making a charitable donation to your local chapter of the ASPCA in Britt's name.

While I am devastated by her passing, we can all find comfort in the certainty that her legacy will endure forever through Thomas and his fans around the world.

Rest in Peace.

I was making my Gauge 1 Project when my notifications popped up and this was the headline 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. Thank you Britt Allcroft! You changed my life entirely, all thanks to YOU, the Rev. W. Awdry, and especially His cheeky little blue E2 class Tank Engine with 6 small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short stumpy dome….
Rest in peace to both of you

Thank you for the memories, if you two never existed, many of us would never meet, this site wouldn’t exist (maybe) and we would lose the blue Tank Engine and his Friends

Thank you! When I knew what song to use I listened to the song 3 times and analyzed the song to get an idea of footage to use. iMovie is a pain sometimes.
