Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a 2009 Trackmaster Edward (with the battery in the tender) and his driving wheel kept jamming. I opened him up and after cleaning his gears and such, found that the small gear that gets moved across by the switch to engage the gearbox is cracked. I've tried gluing gears in the past and it does not work. Is it possible to buy a replacement gear so I can return him to the rails?
Thanks,
Generic

If its the gear you have pictured with the caliper, I don't think anyone has found a source for that special cog. Research the Links Chrisjo provided above, if Member Ripley (who was our resident gear replacer) couldn't find a source, then its probably near impossible to find as he spent many hours, days and money trying. To me, your best bet is to find parts lots on ebay that have many not running or damaged trains for sale to start accumulating a stash of repair items. I could be wrong as my memory is not as it used to be and Mr Ripley has been gone for what seems to be an eternity 😒so if you do come across a source please share it with us. Good Luck
Hi everyone, I worked on replacing those exact gears before for the older C battery tender engines. There isn't an easy way to find that specific gear (I haven't found it anyway) but I vaguely remember using a gear commonly found in flat drive engines I'll look for one... Ok here's a picture... Oh apparently it's been so long from my last post that apparently I can't just upload pictures from my hard drive anymore? Anyway I'm sure someone else can post a picture of the 14 tooth gear in the flat drive unit. I used it to fashion a temporary replacement until I was able to replace it proper by finding a spare. Both Chrisjo and Super's method is sound if you know how to manipulate plastic gears to the shape you want or to simply buy a cheap tender engine to use its likely non cracked gear respectively.
So buying a cheaper tender engine with the same gears is the fastest way to go but cost money, using a flat drive unit's 14 tooth gear is creative as a replacement, and manipulating 14 tooth gear that's too thick to the shape you want is expert level lol.
