2009 Trackmaster Edward Cracked gear

Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a 2009 Trackmaster Edward (with the battery in the tender) and his driving wheel kept jamming. I opened him up and after cleaning his gears and such, found that the small gear that gets moved across by the switch to engage the gearbox is cracked. I've tried gluing gears in the past and it does not work. Is it possible to buy a replacement gear so I can return him to the rails?
Thanks,
Generic

Simple answer is 'yes'.  This subject has been covered here on numerous occasions. Try putting 'cracked gear' in the search box. If you still can't find what you need, then please feel free to come back with details of the width, diameter, and number of teeth on the gear that you need to replace and I'm sure someone can find the one you want on ebay from China.

Or Amazon, for example this post:  https://www.blueplastictracks.org/thread...l#pid67369

I expect the hole will be 2mm diameter, they usually are (sometimes given as 1.95mm in listings).

This thread is a classic: https://www.blueplastictracks.org/thread-3006.html
Fortunately there are far more seller listings with more detail in them now than there were even six years ago.

This is the most recent lot that I bought, used to successfully repair an on-top Plarail monorail

I got some pictures and dimensions of the cracked gear. I counted 14 teeth.

First search I did produced these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382419195815

If you can't find an exact match, these are the correct diameter (8mm) and number of teeth (14), but out of the box they are too thick and don't have the protruding smooth boss. Nonetheless I feel that with a little care one could rub one down on grit paper or a file to get it the right thickness (about 2mm? you didn't show that), then cut the boss off the cracked one and superglue it onto the new one.

Keep looking!

Getting closer. These look pretty much exactly right?  The picture is generic but the specifications seem to check out.  The key descriptor seems to be 'spur gear'.

If its the gear you have pictured with the caliper, I don't think anyone has found a source for that special cog. Research the Links Chrisjo provided above, if Member Ripley (who was our resident gear replacer) couldn't find a source, then its probably near impossible to find as he spent many hours, days and money trying. To me, your best bet is to find parts lots on ebay that have many not running or damaged trains for sale to start accumulating a stash of repair items. I could be wrong as my memory is not as it used to be and Mr Ripley has been gone for what seems to be an eternity 😒so if you do come across a source please share it with us. Good Luck
