Okay everyone, buckle up! This is a very confusing episode that happened today, I was scrolling through Canadian Facebook marketplace, scouring for the diamond in the rough (Alfie) when i spotted this listing...John Kerry
An Alfie, Ned, White face troublesome truck, Percy meccano set (first thomas toy ever produced) $700 CAD, "message for pricing on individual items." Naturally i am gripped by this. I hurridly message a (Canadian)friend of mine who happens to own 3 alfies (he's coming for you Muddy!) and recieve an interesting response:
"but thats a scam one, I found that too im 99% sure its a scam"
but whyever so? it all looks perfectly reasonable i think to myself
"heres the thing, I dont think this is this guys collection number 1 give away is the coolprops thomas. who would sell it that fast and the guys pfp isint even him if you reverse search it is comes from somewhere else"
This is true, is there any more evidence, i ask, rather confusedly, perhaps the son was a keen collector!
"but the most fishy thing of them all is that I offerd 30 CAD for Alfie, Oliver, White face truck and Ned. He went to go ask his son if that was okay and his son said yes, If his son was a collector shouldnt he have known their value?"
at this point my friend stopped messaging the seller
This is all rather darning evidence i would say, but would anyone here like to add? I personally am quite perplexed. Is this a scam or an honest attempt to sell off a pretty substantial collection? (apologies for the formatting, its currently 2:30am and i am just pressing buttons XD)
