I just received the first of many trains and other Plarail items I plan to purchase in the mail today, so I figured I'd start a thread to showcase them!

A few weeks ago, I ordered a Plarail Yamanote Line E235 Series train from eBay. I was told the train would be delivered to my home in the Midwestern US between March 15th and March 28th, but I received a surprising but welcome early delivery notice from eBay a few days ago informing me that it would be delivered today, which it was. I've wanted a Yamanote Line train for a while, so I was pretty excited when opening it!

The E235, like all modern Plarail trains in the S series, came packed with a cardboard collector card, which contains some facts about the train in Japanese. I can't read it of course, but it's still a nice touch. Also included was a sticker sheet with stickers representing the electronic destination signs seen on the real trains.

Since the Yamanote Line is circular, trains never need to reverse while in service, leaving the back destination sign on trains unused. Instead of a destination, JR uses the screen to display images of different Japanese plants, a different one for every month. The sticker sheet gives you all twelve, allowing you to customize the train for whatever month you'd like. I chose July since I like the flowers, and it's when my birthday is!

The opening doors are also cool! I have no idea how they were able to fit the mechanism into such a small space and frankly I'm too scared I'd mess it up if I opened it!

Overall, a very cool train! Looking forward to running it on my layout, as well as building up a fleet of more trains to run with it!

I agree, it is a neat train and the opening passenger doors are really neat. Very nice SETrain 👍

You could paste this into an online translator and see what you can make of the result!

Each display alternates between two images of the same flowers every five seconds.
