More things to put on the shelves

After pre-ordering a SE&CR P class I've been on the hunt for some coaches. The Hattons coaches are Beautiful but You can't find them and so only one option remained... The Bachmann SE&CR Birdcage coaches.

In real life they would usually be run In sets of three, as only three types of coaches were ever made (BT | CL (1st/2nd) | BCL (2nd/3rd) ). Now like usual with Bachmann these coaches are significantly overpriced expensive at a ripoff price of nearly £90 at RRP, however because these obviously didn't sell I was able to get 2 for about the price of one.

The coaches are absolutely superb detailed except for metal/ sprung buffers and a decent close coupling or any lighting (even though they have pick-ups and so you could fit lights yourself) for £90 they are terrible for abut £45 they are absolutely worth the money! And if I'm lucky I might be able to pick up some more in the future!

Love those details and all the window glazing especially those near the roof on the ends.

Nice coaches, but as you say the price like most from Bachmann and Hornby for that matter are far too high. I find it difficult to justify the sort of prices they sell rolling stock for these days, its not just the coaches its the wagons as well. Even a nice private owner wagon seems to around the £30+ mark which is outrageous in my opinion as I recall not so long ago they were pocket money prices (<£10) but even then I thought they were getting pricey. Mind you that is possibly the 'sad old git' factor kicking in as I remember how outraged I was when coaches hit the £20 mark as most around that time were only £10 or just under. But now those £20 pullman cars with lit table lamps look like they were positively cheap and the truly sad thing is that it wasn't that long ago either!

Generally though I do think the prices of HO/OO items are getting a bit silly lately, to the point that they are now beginning to make O gauge look 'reasonable' whereas at one point they appeared massively overpriced in comparison to HO/OO. Makes you wonder where it will end...

It's definitely been a while since I bought a plarail lot and that's probably because of the lack of anything interesting or affordable, but I've finally found something! This lot probably won't be too exciting for a lot of people here as it mainly serves as a filler for a lot of the larger gaps in my collection.
I would also like to apologies for all the blurry photos as I was simply too excited!

Starting off with the engines and rolling stock: (I've opted to group these into sets were possible)

The closest thing we have to a standard tomy thomas is this Annie which is not in that great of a condition



for our first actual plarail thomas we have something quite special... The 60th anniversary metallic Thomas with Annie and Clarabel, It has a cracked gear and both tabs are broken but some glue should fix the gear problem!







Additionally we also have this plarail (presumably JP) Talk 'n' Action Thomas, another cracked gear,  corroded battery terminal and what I believe to be a failed transistor will need attention but hopefully I'll be able to fix him! As you'll also see this lot contains all the Items included in the Talking Thomas set





Our only other main character is a 2003 transitional variant James. weirdly the drawbar arrived disconnected and the tender underframe was mounted on wrong however the wires were intact. Like all transitional models he's easily faded and the face is slightly yellowed but I don't mind as otherwise he's in mint condition, although I'd much rather get a 2004-2012 James with the black drawbar, but definitely will NOT be paying anything close to $50 for him. I'm also really happy to finally own a tar tanker. The tanker didn't originally have a front hook but I added one so now it's also in mint condition. The van also brings my total to 6 (so far)

There were also 3 plarail shinkansen models although and even though I've never really been interested in getting any of these I do find all of these really interesting.... Also I could not be bothered to look any f these up so if anyone could give me more information I'd definitely appreciate it!

Out of the 3 this one is the only one to not be complete! Weirdly it's also fitted with the original tomy hooks and axels even though it was produced in 1998 long after 1994



In terms of destinations we finally have Ffarquhar station X2. I've had a platform for about 7-8 years now and finally I have the complete station. The faded one is the older one, with the original tomy logo
