jet engine thomas project

not sure if this is the correct category for this kind of thing, but i have two tomy thomases and a jet engine. when i bought the jet engine i thought i was getting a surprised one as the image indicated. however, i got a stock standard one and i am wishing to convert it to a surprised jet engine type.

i've opened it up, and i'm just wondering what motor i should get? i don't like the speed of the official one, so looking for a quick motor

for the face, i'll probably just obtain a dead thomas off ebay if i can find one. large eyebrows on the japanese version amuse me, so will modify to add that

Are there two different versions of the Jet Engine?

Oh, my mistake...I had thought you may have referred to something different in the Jet Engine Car.

no worries, when it arrived i had just waited so long i wasn't bothered to send it back

also, i checked on ebay and all jet engine thomases i found were japanese ones, otherwise with a white footplate and extremely expensive because of it

Did it come new in the box, or did it have any signs of someone trying to rebox it? In the latter case, it could be the previous owner put a standard Thomas in it instead of the faster, shocked one (for whatever reason). Otherwise, it might be a factory error. If a faster motor (with just a battery) won't give a better speed than the unique Thomas, you might have to put a two/three battery pack under the crates and wire it to the drive unit. Remember the DUs in old style engines have additional gearing to change speed and torque and allow freewheeling, unlike the TrackMaster 2 chassis. I reckon that sets a particular limit to what speeds they could be modded to reach.
it wasn't new in box, just came in some bubble wrap the usual.
its normal speed, and i don't have soldering experience so a larger battery won't do. pretty sure the jet engine thomas only uses a AA battery, so really, all i need is a faster motor

also, does anybody know why tomy donald is so freaking fast? (or is it just me being stupid and he goes normal speed?)

How freaking fast is he? Maybe swapping his motor with the Thomas one would solve two issues? Video?
hold on i'll give donald a new battery
never mind just being silly lol
donald has triangle screws anyway so cannot take it apart
