@Tharazero, I know he probably is wrong, but I am curious as to where he got that from.
Train it, plane it, you name it!

Me too
@Thara True, but even when you are in the right place and there at the right time, the prices tend to be very high, easily £100 or more will be asked for one which is quite a lot of money for a motorised toy vehicle

@diamonddalek I think that there’s no place we’re you could get an Alfie for 100 pounds or less, it’s just unheard of. If you want to spend less than that then your gonna have to do a lot of digging, and be really patient. In my opinion, anything under $500 Canadian for an Alfie can be considered a good deal, considering his rarity and the amount made
@TZ1 Yeah, it would be a miracle to find one for below £100, heck it would be a shock to find one for less than £200

Not sure, but I suppose it was included in some odd lot of trains I purchased over the years. But in any event, it is the reverse of the one in your photo. I've attached photos in case they're of any use, but the only marks on the underside is a "made in China" stamp and the #4. Perhaps this is will be of use? And great research on the batches. I would think a limited production of 300 puts Alfie as being one of the more rare thomas items? ![]() ![]()
I wish I had alfie to be able to assist in this, but sadly I don't, you guys are making some very interesting discoveries, that's for sure!

Huge thanks to @thekaikkistore on Twitter, from a photo of their Alfie, we can see that there was actually another date: July 6, 2008 (188S8)! This means that at least 4 batches were actually made.

A little late to the party here. I enjoyed the read as I found it informative. I own 2 Alfie figures, 1 from the first run (098S8) and 1 from the second run (136S8). I also have 1 of the cargo pieces with the #2 stamped into the bottom.

My first run is the only one currently listed for sale on Ebay. I have had alot of interest but also alot of lowballers on it. I spoke to the seller of the last 3 on Ebay and they assured me that a price range of between $650-850 USD is what he sold his for without the cargo piece. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
