here are some cutoms i wanted to show

Finally took lightning apart and did some window modifying

all together with the grey windows

and the other angle too

I am delivering on my word in terms of Derek.

more work shall be done on the shell and the base as for the buffers I used the ends of some trackmaster 2 buffers cut them in half and glued cardboard in the middle used a boat load of glue to hold them in place. I sanded the front and filled the hole at the back with super glue because I wanted to make the process quicker. 

after the body work I will paint it all grey and then do the fronts cream for the yellow and the blacks the reds the greens and the logo on the sides.

I painted the base but before that I checked for imperfections 

I painted the body light cream for the yellow sides 

here is the body and base painted with the appropriate colors I like the yellow it pops out 

and I painted the roof and will do the windows and paint some smaller details I will do the logo on the side of him and printed logo or no logo as for the face it will be printed for now. I would use the wooden railway model but its small. 

will update later on.

I also modified my duplicate Herky to be more accurate and removed the yellow box around him and I also filled the hole in but put cardboard to save on clay

I also did brown jay jay as he was in the model series (originally brown) I took him apart and painted him and then put together 

I also added a face to Derek which I might redo but for now it works 

and old slow coach now has the Plarail face

Is that your first Chuggington item, or have you had any others before it? I never noticed they gave him correctly sized leading wheels and the bogie frames were different sizes. They could've easily released him (and Olwin) that way since the wheels wouldn't just fall off without those frames. Could've also painted them red and gold or given him spoked Thomas wheels.

Totally forgot there was a Jay Jay the Jet Plane toyline like this. Are any of them die cast like their brethren from other IPs, or are they all plastic? Jay Jay looks to be higher quality than Herky.

Derek's colour should've been brighter than that, but the paper face turned out better than I usually remember them (as if it's nearly extruded). Keep up the good work.

1) i have wilson and a brewster with brown leafs. I would like to get an olwin and do the same thing.
2) this line of jay jay characters i have are all plastic but the did make a die cast line with 4 characters being jay jay,tracy,snuffy and herky. Those are smaller than the plastic ones so for that reason i bought the plastic line though a tad bit bigger it works. In the 'i got some items' thread i put a bit of information about them and the ones i got so if interested read

to make Colin a bit more accurate I removed the following from the crane and the bottom of the base 

it has a stick that when turned makes a clicking sound kinda like the vintage r2d2 from kenner but I removed it to have it more seamless and not to be annoying (optional modding)

there we go much better 

I gave Colin a chain that my mom had and don't worry she gave me the bit of a really long chain so it wasn't wasted 

it fit the pole perfectly but it wiggled so I glued it on at the end to not be on the side or etc.

the hook was sourced from a tomy cranky that was very battered so I took a knife and cut the hook off (careful when using sharp tools) 

and I used a soldering iron to make a hole at the top of the hook to fit (since it looked like a ball joint it went in just right and then moved along) 

I could have ended here but I wanted to make it look right might not be accurate but its better than nothing 

painted it with a coat of cream twice and then painted the top of the hook red and filled the gaps with paint.

after painting the hook black and painting the roof as it was missing paint. It looks better than before with no hook. This might not be accurate but I'm not looking for that I just want a model that's close enough to whats seen in the show. Overall looks good and I saw people do this with Colin and wanted to try.
