3D Printed Outside Double Curved Rails

This fellow has created outside double curved rails with 3D Printer. It looks like the 3D Design is available from a place like Shapeways  but I am not sure. Nice work but I am not sure if these are printed as one piece or you have to make an upper and lower, glue them together for use in either direction.

Wonderfull tracks and the old Hankyu too! I would know how to use those tracks on my layout!

Are you looking into that web site to see if they can be purchased Mr-No?

I would probably going to use flex track to achieve the same result.  Shapeway charges an arm and a leg for a daisy shell.  It will be extremely expensive.

Agreed on Shapeways prices. Have you research the Linked Japanese site Leyland? I am wondering if the Cad drawings are available to plug into a 3D printer so one would not have to do all the work.

I haven't looked into that website yet, Super. I suppose it would be expensive, but it's a great idea. I wonder if Takara Tomy researchers look at the solution like this one...

I don't know how to read Japanese but I suspect it will be expensive given how few 3D printed orders companies receive.

And for a full circle you need 16 double rails...

Yes but just think of all the squiggly Layouts that can be built with 1/8th curved rails.

Hi Super,

That track is printed in two parts which you then glue together to make the double sided 'normal' track part.

I've managed to get onto that site and download the two parts, I will give it a shot printing them and see how they come out.  Watch this space
