Wow...so cool and generous. It looks like it may have been created for table top war gaming originally.

I found the model on 'Thingiverse' originally it was designed and sized as a footbridge for a narrow gauge model railway.  Narrow gauge is OO/HO gauge bodies typically on chassis designed to run on N gauge track.  I scaled it up to suit HO/OO scale trains and when it was printed thought it would be perfect for PlaRail so decided to share it with Chris Smile

Sorry for the bumping, I heard that someone is creating Plarail 3D printed body shells for a cheaper price: https://www.magicjayroadprints.com/

No issues, its what its for (bumping that is).

Interesting site, new to the game I would say, but the models look good and detailed, possibly Resin prints I would guess. Of course I would not expect them to come painted and those painted examples are just to illustrate how they can look when completed. It may also be worth contacting the seller to find out what 'donor' chassis they are made to fit on as I doubt they will have different versions for each chassis type out there. I suspect it may be Thomas or Percy type chassis, but even then is it plarail or the new crappy FP chassis?!?

I also notice they don't list how much shipping would be, it would be worthwhile to check that before ordering.

Finally as it seems it is an individual selling them it may be worth checking to see if there is any history of customers who have purchased as it does seem a new site so I would be a bit wary of buying from them unless you can find some history as well as checking to make sure the payment methods are legitimate and secure. But this should apply to any small company/individuals website that you are tempted to buy from. Every time I find a site I'm not familiar with I will search on Google for any feedback about it before I will even consider buying from them. Sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to 'teach you to suck eggs' but that's what you get when you work in Cyber Security, constantly aware of potential threats or cons Smile

oops...that T-Boy's Twitter account that is suspended.

So these are for printed shells and not the files to print them yourself?

Hi Super,

I read it as physical shell prints that you're buying, which makes the site even more suspect because if they are of the sort of quality shown in the photos they are suspiciously cheap. Also if they were to sell the files you can bet that those same files would soon show up on sites such as Thingiverse or other sites pop up selling the same physical models.

This is the one drawback to 3D printing if you are someone looking to make some money out of it, you need to guard your design files as though they are gold as once you let them out of your control you will likely never make much out of them again. Either that or spend the rest of your life trying to sue people who are re-selling or re-using the files to copy your work. Mind you in this case you could argue that this guy is infringing FP's or Tomica's copyrights, let alone the owners of the Thomas intellectual rights. It's why Hornby no longer makes Thomas themed models as they gave up the licence due to the cost which was subsequently picked up by Bachmann.

So he's made a Thomas to fit on a "tomy/tm Thomas chassis", and Oliver and Duck to fit on a "tomy/tm Percy chassis".

Am I missing something? What is the point?

Surely everyone here has about a hundred Thomas shells of various patterns already without needing a 3D printed one of questionable quality?

Having said that, some of the coaches look quite interesting.

What's Trainboy done to upset that nutter Musk?
