finally> finally? finally!

a long sought after train.

bnib, i hope anyways,

i know we are all the same. in many ways more than just one.

from a "collectors" standpoint....

how does one "define" bnib?
sounds simple right?
however, prior to 1990..
bnib actually means "brand new in bag"

and then... after many contract negotiations...
bnib meant a plastic covered "item" sealed to cardboard background.

this took place in 2000. give or take a few years

my question is..
how does 1 define bnib?
within that time frame?
Hello Trevor

This is the "Show Us What You Bought" Thread so do you have pictures to show us?
yes, i can do that.
but no matter what pictures i show...

they cannot define the truth.

i have a moral obligation here.
i can trust what i see and hear... and with pictures and words so can all of you
but, if i am wrong
and there are batteries in this toy--- it will be destroyed.

what would you do?
any of you?

would you sacrifice an investment?
or preserve the toy?
I have no idea what you are saying but just post the pictures of your purchase so we all can see.

look at the corners, no damage, whats so ever.
see the tape?
signed, sealed, delivered< i'm yours! < stevie wonder excerpt.

anyways, my moral obligation still stands?!
what would you do?

Very nice pickup for your collection Trevor.
thank you very much. i do appreciate that very much.
i say that with extreme sincerity.
however, this is not my collection.
nothing i have, own or seek is for me, myself, or i

it is for all of us

but back to my original dilemma.....

this is a difficult toy to find.
i could have been swindled. we all have been there before.

what would you do? any of you?
open it? and not find any batteries inside. then left with, opening an unopened package?
or opening it and finding batteries inside and removing them before the toy is destroyed?
i would carefully open from the bottom and remove batteries that way. preserving the toy is ahead of any sealed boxes, but given how old this is, any battery will have already leaked most likely. if you are careful to avoid tears and creases, the look of the box wont be lost.

do these have a history of having batteries sold in place? i know many toys do, but no plarail item i have bought new has ever come like that, nor have the recent fisher-price examples and neither did the vintage magnetic tomy range. do you know anyone who can translate for you? usually boxes state "batteries not included" somewhere, which would clear the issue completely.
my website address has changed: https://sunscollections.weebly.com/
I don’t believe these would have come with batteries and Sun mentions. That said, Sun is right if this did have batteries in it and from my expierence even if it were for a couple years it could be toast. There is a strong possibility if this was used at any point that the battery terminals are gone in the “Splater” car due to the batteries being typically accidentally left in. I would say in all the TnA engines I have purchased, 7 out of 10 have had some sort of battery left in. And probably 5 out of 10 needed repaired.

Batteries aside, Muddy can tell you even BNIB items like this could have gear issues and need repaired. Just due to age the gears can be cracked and have issues without even being played with.

thank you all

sorry i have been away. this purchase was a very huge endeavor and when i get time i will explain.

i will open it when i get time.
i'm not concerned with batteries that would come "with" the toy.
there are NO batteries that come with this toy. when it first came on the market.
i was just trying to verify if it was bnib.. WITHOUT opening it.
but given this particular toys' reputation, it encourages me to open it. so i will do so.

this was a huge haul. a project that has been in the works for weeks if not months.

i cannot wait to share!
