Why do some TnA Engines seem to function perfectly then suddenly, They preform the wrong line or function when they run over a certain track? Like for example my Gordon every time he hits a 5 mark, he does like the function of 4 marks or 1 mark? What the heck? I've tried jiggling the tab reader but its no good unless i run the track on him when he is upside down, How do I fix this and why does it happen?
Curious about this

Like said before, these trains are very cheaply made, and considering they are almost 20 years old, they won't perform up to standard. You got lucky with your Gordon to have the speed it does, all the ones I've seen (including mine) run like snails.
As for how you can fix it, I really wouldn't meddle with the insides without Ripley802's assistance.
Wait so My Gordon is worth above average? Because of that wicked speed?

My Henry is kinda a snail but not by much, I have 7 of these, Thomas British, Percy American, James British, Gordon Japanese, Henry Japanese, Toby Japanese And Diesel 10 Japanese
I agree with StarSwitcher. Most all of these are somewhat slow compared to the regular Tomy/Trackmaster items. I have gone to great lengths to try and resolve the speed issue, but have bet to figure out why the speed is so slow. Regarding he phrases that are said, I have seen this as well. In some cases when they co over a switch or other part of raised track (non green TnA track) they will talk too. The inner mechicanicals of the TnA trains are pretty detailed and complex so over time and depending on the use/condition the train has seen or may be in, the functions may be impacted. Hope this helps.
