Those are neat coal cars. I am not exactly sure and I know we discussed them before but for some reason the light in my head says they were in one of those Fisher Price 3 Packs of freight cars but don't quote what I see in my head. I do know that for some reason they decided to glue the blue shells to the black chassis when they already held it together with a screw. It took some finagling and time to persuade them apart so I could swap out the white couplers with black.
Excellent choice this is one of my favorites as well!...its called a "coal & tool flip car"...I'm sorry I'm not sure exactly how it was sold, but I think it was one of 3 in a car pack.
Play nice & have fun!!
this one looks the same, not sure if it is or not.

Yeah I recall seeing that 3-pack now. I have also seen a few lots on eBay with them one which had two of them but it was like $29 plus shipping. I think I may have one or two in my rolling stock but need to take a look. I am watching one now on eBay but let me know if you see any at a good price.. BTW Super, those look awesome with the black couplers..
Funny enough, they seemed pretty common on eBay when I was searching for coal cars a few months ago. Of course, now that someone here needs them, they've become as easy to find as Bigfoot's toenail clippings. Ripley, I'll let you know if I spot any.
FWIW, I ended up using the empty "Sodor Mining" hoppers for coal drags on my railroad.
I think they were made only by HiT Toy Company, not Fisher Price.
More and more...
