Could something like this be modified to work or are those rivets hard? http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Sized-11-Heavy...Swls5Y7Z1v

They are not to hard, prettythin brass. The trouble I have had with finding something like that has been that it needs to be able to open pretty wide to be able to fit over the battery box. I have thought and tried even modifying a "c" clamp as well as a regular had clamp but no such luck.

What I ended up getting was this:

The cone shape tool works to sort of ream the rivet out enough so it stays in place, then the other can be used to flatten it down.

Is that all of them? I've lost count! Lol

Ok! I suppose that of all of them, 1 UK James is the least important anyway, and likley the easiest to replace too... Thank you again you are the MAN!, and take whatever time you need with them, as whatever you do is time well spent. Ttys!Smile

Here’s the solution for old noisy gears: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KHSR68...UTF8&psc=1

These are much quieter than some of the other drive gears. Trust me ...

Wait...those only have 8 teeth.....what trains use those? I thought all trains used either 12 or 14 tooth gears or are these only for TnA engines?

These look like possibly the gear that goes on the engine shaft. I woulda agree new gears help, but with several of these engines, not just the TnA ones, they have multiple gears and of various type, so replacing them all could be near impossible as some are not really produced as spares that I have seen.

The TnA's must be different, the engine shaft gears that I see that aren't the spur gear type are 10 toothed.
