show layout

25 Replies, 19360 Views

at the end of september is my clubs 2-yearly big show. i finally got my butt in gear and built a basic layout for it.
i am not entirely sure of my table size, so will take enough extra bits i can build a couple of low towers on either side. will have time in the morning to put them together without too much trouble.

was hoping to run my DD51 sleeper train, but it wont go up the hills. even the yellow one in the photo with the hamburgers struggles.

i won a plarail staff apron on jauce overnight, so have decided to go full plarail, no thomas or other characters. i am sticking to authentic japanese trains.

https://www.jauce.com/auction/t498822171 here you go. this is my "might as well" to go with the tomix trucks. dont want to risk buying more in case it doesnt arrive in time for the show. hopefully they will use this to help protect the trucks as well.

Thats cool, are you going to wear it during the show?

yup. will have the club shirt underneath, and will pin a club name badge to the apron somewhere.

I really like that layout and the apron is just too cool! What are the double-header steam engines I see? I couldn't quite make out the details in the photo.
thats the silver swallow pair. the rear engine is meant to make engine noises, but was too damaged inside to be repaired, so its there merely as decoration. didnt actually try them on the layout, so dont know if they will be used on the day or not.

this time next week we will be celebrating the close of the first day of the show.

as a result of the timeframe getting smaller, the original layout idea was scrapped entirely in favour of something more interesting. i have put together a form of instructions as i may be relying on a friend to put it together for me, so went fully detailed.

the buildings and vehicles are tomica, with some sold locally under the hypercity umbrella. i also tracked down my plakids and they will be dotted around the town.

Very nice Sun, is this the first time you have incorporated the Tomica Town buildings and roads in a show Layout?
