Is It 60th?

I had always thought that the Tomy Metallic Thomas 60th Anniversary Limited Release was a real steamer, am I wrong? If not what is this one? Notice something missing in the second picture? The chassis for the Thomas engine says 1992 but Annie and Clarabel say 2002. So I assume this had to be a 2002 release but Thomas used a First Edition chassis. When was the 60th Anniversary released? Muddy, is this a variation you don't have?

There is a metallic Steam Along (US) version but the metallic one you have I believe is indeed the Anniversary one.

I managed to find the one I have (Anniversary edition) which does have the 3rd wheel. My guess is this may be the metallic Thomas that comes with the tidmouth sheds (Japanese version) and then the coaches from the Anniversary edition??

In your previous thread you had a photo of the 60thanniversary Thomas with a normal Thomas. That normal Thomas had a white running board whereas the 60th one you have pictured has a red running board. You need to swap the running boards around as 60th anniversary Thomas came with a white running board, not a red one. And because the red running board doesn't have a middle wheel and there isn't a space for one, you have a rare first edition Thomas without a middle wheel

Well that makes sense, great detective work Thara, thanks. The white running board chassis still has the 1992 year on it but looks to be correct by your eye and Ripleys picture. And yes, the other Thomas is the rare First Edition now with the swapped chassis and the Annie and Clarabel that also came with that Lot are 1992 also. I now have 2 sets of the First Edition release as the shipment that came prior to this one I also discovered one other set was included. Him...now what to do with them all.

Thanks again fellows for the great help.

@Ripley...are you all moved in now?

yeah, all moved in. Still unpacking..Dodgy.. my train totes were moved from the garage to the basement this morning, boy was that fun.. Confused. The garage was like a sauna, so I figured I better get them inside before tires start to melt etc.. can't wait to finish unpacking and get back to repairing them, but it may be a slow go as now there are home improvements (aka.."Honey do" task items) to do..Cool

Congratulations Ripley, now comes the fun part. I would imagine you will have a few months of getting situated of where you want everything to go and the home modifications you will want to do and settling in. I am thinking you had to make several trips up and down the basement steps transferring your collection from the garage. Is the basement finished?

Yes, probably about 15-20 trips up and down the stairs.. This basement unfortunately is not finished. In the last house I finished the basement out so I am ok with that but hoping it doesn't take as long here. Last time we were in the house almost 9yrs and I finally finished it within the last 6mo.. lol. I have a few different choices for a train room and in fact there is an unused bed room upstairs that could be used too although that would mean hauling all of the train stuff up from the basement and then up to the 2nd floor. Dodgy

Haha.. I think you may have me beat in that competition. Big Grin

Yeah, finishing the basement will be a later phase for us, no rush at the moment.

I certainly don't blame you for giving up AC with what you have been through.

I think that its better to start from scratch in a basement. There is so much shoddy DIY basements that aren't done right and behind the wall is moisture and mold that you don't see. Plus there is dangerous electrical work that could cost you your home or worse when it catches fire. No its better to be able to see what the basement looks like bare to see where there may be existing water problems. Then you can fix them properly plus its fun to design the footprint for the basement specifically designed for your tastes.
