Does anybody here know which type of batteries the Monorail train use to power the engine? from some pictures, it looks like they use the special flat circular battery to power the engine.

The Disney ones have a "C" battery in both the front and rear car and then a button cell (CR2032, I believe) in the center. The button cell is for the sound only if I recall. It has been a little while since I have had these apart.

I believe the yellow, red, blue, and silver 2 car monorails only have the two "c" batteries.

Not sure which Monorails you are asking about as their are many but the ones I have, yellow, red & blue "hanging" monorails use one "AA" battery only as well as the most recent "above rail" Monorail released, the Tokyo 10000 Event Exclusive.

Ah.. AA.. I have only had the yellow one of these apart for a repair and could not recall which it had.

Oh wow, I had no idea that these Disney Monorails used 2 heavy 'C' sized batteries, why two? Wonder if this adds to the rocking side to side that these generation Disney Monorails have a tendency to do. I now wonder if using the 'AA' to 'C' adapters would make them less top heavy and lessen the side to side rocking.

Speaking of the Disney Monorails, is there a list somewhere of the Disney Anniversary Monorails? I thought we had discussed this once before but I can't find the Thread. In my head I am picturing a 10, 25, 30th Anniversary sets but I am not sure and I can't find the info on them.....Anybody?

We discussed a bit more on them in this thread:

Yes that's correct 10, 25, and 30 for the anniversary ones and those are by farm my favorite. I still only have the 25th version though. I do however have the pink version (stripe one) and I am thinking a blue stripe one but need to confirm. Cool

Yes, that must have been the Thread I was looking for. For some reason, in my mind, I am hearing that the 25th Anniversary set is harder to find and did the set com with accessories like characters and such that only was released in the one set or was that one of the others. Sure would like to see the boxes front and back showing whats inside if there are pictures on the Net because I am now thinking I want one..

Here is a question:

Is the above battery configuration only for the 25th Anniversary Disney Monorail and is this one the only one with sounds? Is the sound operational or is it talking and if so what language?
