Big package and Big Let down.. :-(. Plarail haul!!

15 Replies, 17155 Views

In another post I mentioned already that there was a large package in the way. I was shocked when I stopped by the post office to get it. So big that the post lady had to push it through a side door because they could not get it over the cabinet. Big Grin

So I got it home and was very excited to see how things looked . Initially I was impressed, very nice packing, nothing looked broken, there were boxes within other boxes, etc.. once I got into a few of the things though there were some bits broken. Hard to say if it was in the domestic or international shipping but they did not seem that bad in the pictures originally. The disappointment did not stop there. Undecided. Almost all of the running trains pictured had batteries in them and not fresh ones, I am talking so far corroded that the terminals on some just fell off. There are some good things in here, and I will probably try and sell off a lot to try and recoup some of the $300 shipping/fees I paid, but over all, I was a bit sad... Dodgy

Anyway, here are some pics..

Massive box..

Here is lot #1:

These were in lot 1 but I am not sure what they are. The running ones are the ones that I believe Nigel has and Nigel, they are all yours if you want them for parts or customs. The others though, maybe Ertl or something else?

And these were in lot 2. Again, some odd ones I know nothing about. They appear to go on the track too, or some of them.

Lot 4:
This was one of the better lots I won. I loved the hanging monorails and the yellow one too since seeing them in some videos including the yellow one Super had for sale not too long ago. And the girders/supports were much needed..

Lot 5:
This is the controller for the Super Hakari set I won. Needs a repair as the terminals are corroded.. also some double curves from the first lot..

What a bummer, once again one of the drawbacks of the lack of being able to directly communicate with the seller on the Japan Auctions. I know how excited I am in waiting an anticipating packages arriving from Japan so I can imagine how disappointing it must be finally opening and seeing its not what you expected.

Those don't look like double curves to me in Lot 5. They look more like the long radius, outside curves since it takes 8 to make a circle where it only takes 4 using the double length curves. Those are not as plentiful as the normal curves so keep them separate from as they really come in handy for certain difficult parts of a layout or when you run parallel tracks.

Its a shame about the battery corrosion but it does remind me to always remove my batteries in anything that is not in the layout including scenery pieces. In this day and age, why can't they invent a battery that would never leak. Which brings up a question: Do Rechargeables leak?

I wondered about those curves. I knew they looked different than the normal ones in the picture but never have had anything other than the normal ones. Good to know there are a few different sizes though.

Yeah the battery thing is terrible. And to top it off, having them go through customs is a crap shoot, Since batteries are typically prohibited. There was a bit of delay when the box arrived at customs so I was hoping nothing happened..

Here is the other item. This was 300¥, which was a steal in my opinion.. I already had the train, remote and one data/sound chip, but had always wanted to try and get the other two chips. The other train was a bonus. And the exonerated picture is some odd track that was in the box, maybe capsule Plarail?

Wow, 300yen is a terrific, can't pass, deal.

Why don't you buy a brand new Plarail Gordon and build a custom Powerful Gordon like the ones that our Powerful Gordon Mike does. https://www.blueplastictracks.com/showth...hp?tid=748

Yeah that's what I was thinking.. I have a Plarail Gordon that looks almost new, but need to dig it out and see how it may look. I would love to keep it authentic, but being in this bad of condition it is too far gone for that I think.

Now all you need is a Red Express Coach with yellow stripe to complete the Powerful/Angry Gordon Set.
