I am really no expert on things that are Thomas but haven't I heard that the black James is his original color so wouldn't that mean he is from a very early show?

Never heard of an "Inky" James and no picture is showing for me, if you did link any. But, yeah, James was in a black livery with red lining from 1912 until sometime in the 1960s.

The only time James was shown in his original livery in the TVS was in the early 2015 special, The Adventure Begins. He was also only in his original livery for one story in the RWS, that being Thomas and the Breakdown Train. EDIT: I also just was notified by a friend after becoming unsure about the year of James' repaint. It's actually in 1925, not the '60s. Thought something was wrong there, since I'm pretty sure Thomas wasn't on Sodor for 50 years before rescuing James. xp 1960s was when James' black lining was changed to blue.

You should be able to find the US version of The Adventure Begins very easily and quickly with a quick YouTube search, but there's also the option to buy it on YouTube or Amazon for 12 bucks in HD.

A lot of people want to forget that episode, and have forgotten it, along with pretty much all of the bad seasons. No one knows what date that was and it's probably not particularly impacting if we ever find out.
