Your favourite train!

Yeah, I live in the midlands, near Sheffield. Most rail traffic I see at the moment are class 66 ews & rail freight locos,



also there are plenty of DMU's and, on the way to work I drive over the east coast mainline so see plenty of the class 91's

That is an oddball. Is that a permanently attached tender on the front that actually has powered wheels straight from the engine? Is the rear tender powered also? What would be in the front tender, water? Sure very different.

Yeah the front tender was water, it was a pretty unique in the UK, Wikipedia Garratt U1

Although it had a lot of success in Africa and Asia, it was basically two 2-8-0 chassis paired up with a common boiler! It was huge!

If I had to pick a favourite steam engine, I've always liked the War Departmrnts austerity class 2-8-0

Is this picture actually dated from WWII? The reason I ask is that sure looks like a nuclear power plants cooling tower in the background.

I don't know the date but I'm pretty sure it will be a cooling tower from a coal power station, we don't have many nuclear powerstations in the UK and those we have were built in the 60's when the power industry was nationalised (under the CEGB - central electricity generating board) you can even see some stacks to the right of the cooling tower, it looks a little like battersea powerstation (in London)

I found a very nice picture and I have all of these locos as plarail customs! Its amazing to see them all on the same consist with a very heavy grain train battling up a steep hill, if I could get get suitable tarps to cover the trucks I could recreate this scene

I have not seen anything but cooling towers look that big and wide here but it does look like the trains cargo is coal. To me it almost looks computer generated as it seems odd in an old black and white picture. That is a huge coal tender to as it dwarfs the gondolas.

It does look the age now that you mention it. My original guess was 50's

Big Sneaker has been on my wanted list for a while now. It's on Yahoo often enough but I'm not prepared to pay the premium for it. :-( I've seen it incomplete but it still gets several thousand yen incomplete.

Is there another that is brown and cream? Or is that my imagination. Lol :-)

there are only the two versions That I know of, I am trying to think of a different train that may look similar with that color scheme but nothing comes to mind, anything is possible sometimes I get confused on all the different versions of some trains! Haha
