Probably a custom from a motorized tender or car. It looks really loose and not put on right for the switch to not be there
thanks for that. i have had a loco with the switch snapped off below the housing, so thought it could be the same here. i do suspect you are correct about it being customised. i have asked for clearer photos, so fingers crossed.
thats another possibility. the seller wants $10 minimum for what is seen in this photo, plus another photo with roughly the same amount in it.
edit: never mind, one of my main competitors asked for a buy now over night and got the lot for $40. guess we shall never know, now.

Perhaps it could've been a Diesel 10 whose motor was beyond repair, but the previous owner used the chassis from a powered tender to bring it "back to life".
