what is this diesel 10? - sunhuntin - 11-27-2016 just spotted this while browsing. he has a front coupler, but appears to be missing the on/off switch. can anyone shed any light please? RE: what is this diesel 10? - StarSwitcher07 - 11-27-2016 Probably a custom from a motorized tender or car. It looks really loose and not put on right for the switch to not be there RE: what is this diesel 10? - sunhuntin - 11-27-2016 thanks for that. i have had a loco with the switch snapped off below the housing, so thought it could be the same here. i do suspect you are correct about it being customised. i have asked for clearer photos, so fingers crossed. Just a thought, but I am going to guess that the motor has been removed altogether, and that it has been converted into a non-motorized pull behind custom? RE: what is this diesel 10? - sunhuntin - 11-27-2016 thats another possibility. the seller wants $10 minimum for what is seen in this photo, plus another photo with roughly the same amount in it. edit: never mind, one of my main competitors asked for a buy now over night and got the lot for $40. guess we shall never know, now. RE: what is this diesel 10? - leylandvictory2 - 11-29-2016 maybe you can ask your competitor for photos. RE: what is this diesel 10? - StarSwitcher07 - 11-29-2016 If you look closely, you can see the black base of the chasis being a lot shorter than Diesel 10's long body shell. Absolutely not a 100% legit combination. Case solved. RE: what is this diesel 10? - DalaGStanator - 11-29-2016 Perhaps it could've been a Diesel 10 whose motor was beyond repair, but the previous owner used the chassis from a powered tender to bring it "back to life". RE: what is this diesel 10? - sunhuntin - 11-29-2016 cheers all. might message the winner in a week or so once the parcel has had time to arrive and double check what it actually was. you may well be right about the tender being used. i saw the front coupler and thought it might have been something rare, lol |
