Lego @ The train show..

Went to a train show today. It turned out to be quite small in comparison to the one that was held last year but it was at a different venue. Anyway one layout that was pretty cool was the Lego one I saw. Just amazing the detail that goes into these and it is hard to think about how much time and money went in to some of the features.

Very impressive. I wonder, are all the buildings and scenery pieces from kits or might they be scratch built?
Thats pretty cool. I wish I had that Metroliner!

Apart from the Eiffel Tower and/or the Opera House, nothing appears to be a MOC ("My Own Creation") and all I can see is official sets. Even the 9V Hogwarts Express is an official re-release and not a custom conversion. There are a plenty of the Modular Building range around the layout as well. Somewhat underwhelming.

theres a fair bit of money and time gone into that! the tracks look 9v, and if they are, thats even more money, as the straights are mega expensive. cheapest i can get them is around $10NZD each length. [one length is about as long as the red shunter shown]
this also means considerable money was likely spent on 9v chassis for the more recent trains, unless the power functions kits can work with that old track.

im not really one for creating MOCs, my imagination and build skill doesnt get that far. i tend to do mods once the set is done.
the eiffel tower and opera house have both been released as sets, my bosses own the opera house as they used to live in sydney. whether the ones shown are official, i dont know, but they certainly look it.

Yeah I would say all the buildings are official kits with maybe only the Eiffel Tower being a self build. I know they did an official kit, but I don't think it was that big. The Taj and the Opera are definitely part of the architecture range Smile
Happily collecting things all my life... Big Grin
