just discovered this persons videos while researching something else.
they use the wind up capsule toys, mount them on n scale chassis and create their own. a cheap way to create a much larger fleet than that released by tomix, which are also expensive and rare. my favourite so far is the boulder chase

I know him from Leokimvideo.
I've read various posts about the good and the bad of Tomy's 'Advance' series, especially a few about concerns of the ability of them running on track etc...

Well on my wanderings I came across this video (apologies if anyone's posted it already) which seems to show exactly what is possible with Advance and darn impressive it is too, have a look and see what you think PlaRail Advance Unboxing and Great Layout! The first part shows the guy unboxing some stuff, unfortunately without commentary, however I suspect this is because it would otherwise be in japanese. But keep watching to see some impressive length trains on a lovely layout Another interesting one showing plarail advance on 'n' gauge real track as opposed to blue tracks, even negotiating a set of points... Advance on N Gauge Track
Those are very long trains and it looks like they need multiple powered coaches to move it along especially around the curves where the Advance series seem to have trouble. With the multiple powers they seem to navigate the curves perfectly. Are they selling individual coaches and/or powered coaches now? Looks like it would be quite expensive and waste if one has to buy full sets just to get an extra coach and a non powered coach to make long trains like these. Nice video and layout, thanks for sharing Nigels.

Super, I would agree, those length of trains would probably need multiple power cars, in fact you can see multiples of them in the train lengths. I also wondered how the guy had put together such long trains, either he must have a source of individual carriages or a stack of spare trailers/leads. Personally I would have thought a better idea would have been to use standard 4 car lengths and use the connectors usually provided with advance sets to connect them. Regardless I'm still impressed - they look great and even if he did buy say 10 sets of each type it is still way cheaper than buying the normal 'N' gauge equivalent
A nicely done Mod...
"Nicely done"? You mean "very well done"! Especially the siderods..
Lovely Pannier tank custom, note how he very carefully switches it on and off haha so as not to cause wheel slip and jam the rods.
Now THAT is impressive. Puts a lot of our modded locos to shame.
Proud owner of Tomy/Plarail trains.
