thrift store backroom find...

fair enough, lol.

did another shift today, and found some more stuff. havent brought it home yet, but might do tomorrow. took down a bag of generic train tracks, and found some more vintage tomy inside, including another engine.

then i took down an old gift box, like 70s era old, all tied up with string. the box had been scribbled on, so i assumed there would be crayons and pencils inside.
i stuck my hand in one side, hoping to find out what was in it, and pulled out an electrical plug. curious!
i untied the string, took off the lid and found a possible treasure. very vintage rivarossi ho scale loco with 3 bits of rolling stock. the plug was for the original rivarossi controller! the other half of the box is filled with similar vintage plastic figures, tiny ones but not quite HO scale.

if the manager and i can work out a price, based on non-running, i will bring them home tomorrow hopefully.

ok, here we go guys!! for $25 i brought home the rivarossi, the tomy and some other bits and pieces.

the tomy. this engine works nicely. pity the signs are broken, but will keep them anyhow.

the rivarossi. its in worse shape than i remembered, and i really doubt it will go. repairable... maybe. its missing one funnel on the front, drive rods on the side shown, but worth it to get it out of where it was.

Nice Rivarossi there if you can fix her, you may find you can even still get spares for them, often the European makers keep supplying spares long after they go out of production. I'm not sure about the power supply though, that looks really old lol!
