I actualy didn't know Shinkalion, until my brother started watching it and would've known shinkalion only from BPT if I didn't see him watching.

It looks like this fellow is not modeled after a real train like a lot of the others but rather a fictitious one? Is that right?

I think you are, SUPER. I've watched some of the shinkalion episodes myself, and the shinkalion Z too. The protagonist trains are all based of real trains. (Though one antagonist train which is fictional turned into a protagonist). The Antagonists have fictional trains... they try to copy the real shinkalions and if you watched it, you know why, I don't wanna give spoilers.
