I knew TrackMaster Village were going to buy him as well, so I wasn't surprised to see they already did a video on him.

At least he stopped calling them reviews lol
Was this the guy that probably gets his trains from TM for free to do favorable videos on? This is one Thomas character train I wished Plarail had made one for so I could deface.
Here is a video that shows this TMR Flying Scotsman along with the same time released Shooting Star Gordon. I think they did fantastic jobs on the faces. However thats all thats fantastic...IMO.
It's said that this video maker gets everything from mattel for free and earlier than even retail, I don't know how much truth there is to that, but what I do know is that he never gives anything a bad "review" lol.
Anyway enough of that, No this doesn't look anything like the Gresley A3 pacific "Flying Scotsman" to me haha. To me it looks like a mold of "Big city engine" they they will use at a future date with a new paintjob and face. I'm on the fence about Flying Scotsman and if I will get him but Gordon and Thomas is a NO from me.
must have a look and see if the faces can be removed. i quite like the one gordon has and would like to try fitting it to a standard tomy release.

Happily collecting things all my life...
Didn't we see this same thing a few months ago and were all hype 'n' crap? It's Trackmaster Revolution, so OF COURSE it's going to be ugly, but for a TMR engine, it's quite nice! At least he has two different tender molds, and a black running plate, but I'm most surprised about how no one's noticed the steam clouds on the side... That's quite annoying... It's even more noticable than it is on the Wooden Railway Roll & Whistles!
Also, I thought Hulyan Maya was the one who did ads and not reviews. I've seen this YouTuber recently and they said they got Shooting Star Gordon and Flying Scotsman from Toys 'R' Us. Also <3 for Thomas Wikia shoutout eeeeeeeeeeeee
Creator of upcoming series "Sudrian Tales"
Amateur voice actor Still haven't painted FFF's Daisy lol sorry my guy (i promise I'll get that airbrush kit soon)
2 of my least favorite reviewers as well...sorry "MOMMY!", but I will have to pass until Ucwepn posts these someday!!
Play nice & have fun!!
TM's Scotty doesn't look THAT terrible. I mean, yes, the steam clouds are unnecessary. It's not a faster engine than the norm for the range, they don't serve a purpose really, and aesthetically they come off looking like he's sped through a barbershop- let's leave that to Duck, shall we?
Scotsman doesn't suffer as terribly from the dreaded "saddle-tank syndrome" that other releases (Mike) do, and although yes, the buffers are incorrect, the running board IS black instead of the usual red, and that face does show off some of the classic Scotsman personality we're used to, without it being a permanent wink. I don't mind the asymmetry of it, though the wonky eyes bother me a little. The right eye should be looking a little more downward IMO. Those eyebrows are on fleek. Whatever fleek means. Love them. I'm glad the tenders are different, though what's the deal with both tenders having rear buffers? I don't understand that. I've seen a Scotsman build on Twitter recently, utilizing the Plarail 2015 Gordon, with the accurate footplate, dome, and a Spencer Tender used so far in its build. That looks miles better than this. If this had been tweaked a little more, and the shaving cream removed from his sides, I wouldn't mind this release. For the moment... I too am on the fence, but the good qualities for me outweigh the bad. I do hope you get Scotty, Ucwepn. I should love to see you review him. |
