interesting. if its the same gauge as trackmaster, then i could see buying one or two characters, but not the sets unless they have some really special scenery that was compatible with the normal stuff, hehe.
i hate it when annie and clarabel are not sold together. i dont see the point in doing this.
They appear smaller than trackmaster because those wheels on Thomas are the same tooling as the take n play. I hope they are same gauge as take n play, I will do so many narrow gauge engine conversions haha. Also I think the design of the coach looks very flimsy and light weight and I doubt I could see such a small AAA powered Thomas pulling more than a single coach or truck comfortably especially if he is plastic.
How disappointing, a train that looks to be unscaled and no improvement over the old stuff what so ever - the track even looks worse!
I agree, doesn't look like an improvement...quite the opposite. I wonder if the Trackmaster powers that be are trying their best to distance themselves from Tomy with complete redesigns. Unfortunately they are but by the looks of it they are succeeding but not in a good way.
I wonder if some license agreement to make similar (almost the same) trains as Tomy is/has expired? This new stuff doesn't appeal to me at all and I certainly won't be buying them to collect.
Hope I don't have to eat my words. Lol, :-)
What is interesting to me is 2 things.
The first is that this is the new Trackmaster track system that will replace the current type interesting to see the adapter and how it differs from the current track, looks good and very good if available in black or grey.
The second thing that interests me and I will have to wait until I see one in person is the train with its (more compact??) AAA battery drive unit and the smaller wheels which would be great for the wacky customs I want to do and can think of numerous locos where the current wheels are too big.
