Plarail Disney Monorail sets, worth it?

All of the over-rail Plarail Monorails are wobbly including all the releases of the Disney Monorails. The newest, Event Exclusive. Tokyo Monorail Type 10000 is the first and only (hope there are more) Plarail, overrail Monorail that doesn't wobble. This is because they corrected the faults of the originals by using spring loaded rail guides rather that just a channel which fit loosely on top of the rails. It would be very nice if Plarail and Disney released a new generation of these overrail Monorails with the spring loaded guides.

The sloped rails for both the over and under Plarail Monorails are very cool and by the looks of the YouTube Videos work with all Plairail Monorails except for this newest release. The sloped rails aren't that easy to find and when yo do are very expensive, averaging about $20 each. They also can be used lying flat for the regular trains which forms a gentle 17" S curve one of which we just used in a tricky spot in our revamped layout.

Lately there have been some listings with a different colour box, also seen this on a recent expo video. I suspect its possibly just a different colour train maybe, but at least it may hint they will release some other new ones soon Smile

I really like/want one of the Disney ones. It is sad that almost all I am seeing are listed as junk and either are in bad shape or don't move, etc... And they still go for 3000-6000¥ it seems. Maybe I will find one and get lucky.

If its the one pictured below, its a different model and is only a two car unit that wobbles. To see a close up between the two where you can appreciate the newer one compared to the wobbly one check out Suzukawas video at about the 5:13 mark below.

Oh wow. I did not realize that were that bad. I wonder if there is a way to add a spring to tension it somewhat to be a bit more firm on the rail?

Does anyone have one or a few that are maybe broken that they would part with? I may be interested. Just hate to pay so much for the one in the Japan auctions then find out there is no fixing it, etc..
My preference to the Disney Monorails are the Anniversary editions but as you can see in this video they wobble also.

Just scored my first Disney ( well any really ) monorail. It is the 25th anniversary edition one. I believe it will need a repair and doesn't have the box, but I think it was a good deal. We shall see though. Big Grin
