Front Hook Splater "Lady and Diesel 10 Chasing"

34 Replies, 34587 Views

Well it finally arrived and I finally had a minute to get a few pictures. I have not ran it yet but over all the items look nice. After reviewing the image in the Thread that Muddy had posted which shows the layout of the set, I am missing several pieces of track. The 1st I am going to get it tha automatic switch. Other than that I need to get some of the double track, but I think I can make the rest of the set. Of course the box would have been nice, but it sounds like his one a pretty rare so I am pleased with aquiring it. I also received some other items in the lot. I will post a seperate thread for those. Also here is the original thread Muddy had started with more info on this set.

Quite the rare set, way to go Ripley. Are the shells for Splatter and Dodge glued to the chassis on yours? I have a couple of Dodges but even though the shell is the same as many of the powered diesel models with the side clips (i.e. Diesel or Arry etc) they went and glued it down.

I think Muddy may have taken his apart to look at the spot where the switch would have been, but I have not checked on the one I received. I will take a look when I get a chance.
Nice one Andrew, have to say I'm gonna be real happy when my Japanese auctions wins eventually get here (two at warehouse now, rest on the way) Smile

It would've been a better set had they replaced Splodge with Thomas and added a collapsing bridge with a barge, that Diesel 10 could fall into.

The unpowered versions of Splodge appear to be a similar length to the TOMY Annie/Clarabel/Henrietta chassis. Are they shorter than the normal ones, or are they just modified versions of the originals?
congrats, rip. i wish that would have made some of the steam characters like that, so kids could recreate the big engines being pushed up hills.

I took the Dodge apart to see what it looked like. It definately is not clearly removable. By that I mean, after removing two screws I still could not get the shell off. I did not force it as I have been waiting on this for a little while now so I did not want to break it. I am thinking it would not be one to easily copy either from an actual Spatter or Dodge, due to the chassis layout. IE.. No wheel/gear assembled, front hook, and then the screw wholes. Here is a pic of it partially disassembled.

Thanks Ripley, then its just like the ones I have. I actually wanted just the chassis to use on a defaced black Diesel shell to make a tandem set. When I get to that mod I am going to try to remove that shell from the dummy chassis with some Xacto knives.

Well I got some double curves and the R-19 auto switch on order from Amazon. Unless I am overlooking something I think that should allow me to complete the track layout for this one.

The D10 and Lady were cleaned up and I let them all run with D10/"splodge" chasing Lady. Smile

After a month of waiting, my Amazon shipment came in from Japan. I hope to get the set completed soon but did not have a chance tonight. I did however get a couple pics.

And I had to do a little assembly.

I must say it is a bit odd opening up brand new Tomy blue track. This is my first "new" track I have had. All the other stuff was from other lots. Now I want more. Lol. Big Grin
