OK, now I see what you mean.
Muddy I was hoping maybe you won this one. I was watching it thinking maybe the seller would lower the price but no such luck.

Nope not me...I did look at it and it looked a bit beat up and the front hook seemed a bit janky, and without much else in the lot for the price I was forced to pass on it:/
Thank you for posting it thoughSmile ...at the least it is now part of our census.

Ok, well, after seeing this I was in awe. I was at first pondering watching and trying to get it, but figured it was likely out of my price range. I let Muddy know as I knew he would be super interested in this one. This is only the 4th known ( I believe ) and the ONLY one seen in a box. This one seems to be is extremely good condition as well. While I would love to have it and I know Muddy would too, it seems that there are a couple people going back and forth early on to get it.

At the time of posting this, it has about 4 days left, 23 bids, and is now at 59,900¥!!!!

Here is the link:

Now this makes me wonder what the value in on the one I have and the one Muddy has that do not have the box? Big Grin. Even at half that cost, it may be the most valuable item I have at least.

Here are some pics, these would be great for the wiki as we may not see a set like this again, and this has a nice view of the track layout.

This was listed with it too, although I am not sure if if came with the set or maybe just an extra?

THIS SET is by far the rarest Plarail release known to man!! It is the same packaging and era as the Donald & Douglas Snow Plow set, but until very recently was completely unknown to the western world!! It is in near mint condition( if it was ever played w/ at all) and judging by the aggressive early bidding and posturing of the 2 bidders, it seems they both are quite aware of the significance of this auction listing...
If neither relents to the other the closing price may well exceede $1000.00 USD!!
...My "Showcase Showdown" bid is $1265.75 Bob!! Though I will not be surprised if it reaches $2000.00!! :O
It makes me sick to see this one go knowing that we may never see another w/box (especially so pristine) ever again, so I can only take joy and be satisfied in knowing that "I knew it!!" Smile

I can't Ripley...I just can't.
I've thought about the bidding pattern and don't think the high bidder is willing to go much higher, but might just get it for under 600, since the 590 represents the out bidders high!! Who bids 589?? Idk...will be interesting to see who's laying low and what the current high bidders true ceiling actually is!?!
As for me. I have been waffling and contemplating and other than that beautiful pristine box and it's mint completeness, It's only the box that really carries its main value...its components are all attainable separately except the front hook Splatter which we both already have...so $600 just to have a box I cannot justify.:/
Heck just the fee to load the $600 on Jauce would be brutalSad

And just like that the auction is over. Only 60,000¥!!!! Wow... I am glad I was able to find one, box or no box, since this seems to be very rare. Although the box would be awesome to have other it, I agree with Muddy, the price was very steep. Nice buy for whoever out there won it. Maybe we will see another one some day. Smile

Yep it's gone...Sad
If the bidders had thrown a few more punches I think it would have reached $1000, but once it stopped at $590 it seemed that one was telling the other that $600 would be their max!! It would have been a great acquisition to have, and I doubt we'll ever see such a pristine example again, but now that one has been exposed and that it sold so high I'm sure we'll see a few more w/boxes will begin to surface in the near future!!Smile
