D261 and D199 don't have a perfect basis in Plarail nor TrackMaster, but all of the Diesel 10 repaints look pretty good. I saw a few tweets recently from a Japanese user who uses some kinda sponge looking material to add more to an engine. Like, for his/her custom D261, he/she had to take off the claw, an there were unrealistic gaps in the roof, so it was filled in with the sponge-stuff, and repainted to blend right in.

I just so happened to discover their page (finally), and seeing this reminded me of your post. A Google translation tells me they used putty for filling gaps and creating shapes. Some of their custom creations are unbelievable, such as Jock and the self contained Harvey. I'm glad they decided to show some of the models used during construction.

I can't recall how most of the user's models looked, but I didn't quite much care for Harvey. He's too tall and has too many gaps between things, but that's just my opinion. D261 and Logan I remember being absolutely amazing.

Putty is a generic term for a material with high plasticity, similar in texture to clay or dough, typically used in domestic construction and repair as a sealant or filler.

Man, those are a lot of locos to get.

The only scrapped engine I own was a 1993 TOMY Henry, which the wires got broken.

I guess that means I'll jsut have to find out on my own, huh? I hope there aren't a bunch of different kinds of putty that have major differences like there are with paints. I have seen some people like HiroTheJapaneseTrain use Mighty Putty in customs.

You can goto most hobby stores and look for the plastic model section, testors makes a filler that is made for models, its a grey/silver tube. It doesn't need harder, just let it air dry and you can sand it smooth like auto body filler. Its fairly inexpensive too.

I don't suppose you have any special amazing plans for the Dennis engine I see in the photo?
If he needs a good home, I'm interested.

I've gotten 2-3 more Dennis trains since the photo. Most are complete but one is missing the motor and weights. If your still interested send me a pm.
