Just saw this on eBay, first one of this type I've seen since I started out on this adventure, thought I'd share it in case anyone here is after this;

Old Merit Thomas Set

Happy New Year Big Grin x
Happily collecting things all my life... Big Grin
I think this belongs in the "Other Thomas Toys" board.

Happy New Year to you too.
Thanks Nigels

Not sure about the size as there is nothing in the picture to scale it too but I am guessing it could be Ertl size or wooden size.
The traction rods appear to move. Interesting.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.
All I know is I've not seen one of these listed over the months since I've joined this site, so thought it was worth a mention in case anyone was looking for this sort of thing Smile

I'm not qualified to say if its rare, or if its worth anything, but I'm sure there are some out there who might...

Thanks, Nigels! I've actually been looking for this since I've heard of it. Too bad I was a bit late and the bidding's ended days ago, but still thanks anyways! Probably would've taken a lot of my time convincing Mom to buy this for me, but I know to stay positive and perhaps there'll be another chance.

Yes. Not only do they move exactly like they're supposed to, but they actually connect and drive the wheels.
