Yes, we got the set of books for Christmas and are reading them in order at bedtime I'm learning so much, myself!

Oh, handle it however you want, you don't have to show it on screen. One of her favorite of the newer books has a single page where Henry is ill and has to visit the train doctor, it's just a setup to get Diesel onto the island but to her the book is a fantastic story about Henry being ill. Working within constraints like that ("how do I tell the story of being painted blue when I only have a green engine?") can be a great motivator: show the story of Henry doing a great job and getting told he can have his new coat of paint as a reward, or a story where he drives around trying to decide what color he wants to be.

Google "change color in video". Lots of ways this can be done. (Easy for me to say, who's never tried it.)
