the one that got away..

ok here is a topic that some might be able to share///

when is comes to trackmaster... i've searched high and low.

but no matter who you are or why you love these toys...
1 thing is for certain! YOU LOVE THESE TOYS!

one of the things that i love about them is the joy they bring. this comes in many forms. however, after so many years of collecting.... that joy can seem to become that "old fishing tale"... the one that got away, so to speak.

think about it for a second. when you spot that rare find & your the only bidder. Or when you out bid everyone else and you know its yours. or you get that grab bag and pull out that gem you weren't expecting...

so, with that said.... sometimes, (at least with me anyways) i tend to remember what got away rather than what i have.

which brings me to my near misses this past year. some big some small. but all left to the eye of the beholder.

one of my biggest misses of 2015.

what would you pay for all 3 tomica world talk'n'action trains? used but mint condition. used.... but with their original boxes also in mint condition?

i let all these SLIP OUT OF MY FINGERTIPS for 120.00usd shipping included! DOOOOOOOHHHHHH!

anyone else care to share? if not thank you for letting me share..

yeh, i know that feeling.

in my case, a big big loader store display in japan. it closed the day i flew to aussie for a holiday. the hotel charged mega bucks for wifi, mine timed out 2 mins before the auction closed and i had been up almost 24 hours and was tired. went to bed, and was finally able to tap into free wifi the next day to find i had lost it by 500yen.

now THAT..HURTZ!
Yes like it was yesterday...still haunted 4 years laterSad
2011 3 BNIB RC Spooky Stanley's were listed on eBay for $70 BIN...RC Spooky Stanley was a Target exclusive that was cancelled before release and never made it to store shelves!!! But somehow 3 had leaked out and I bought one immediately, but after a week still hadn't been shipped, I contacted the seller who said that she had gone on vacation and would not be back for 3 weeks and offered to cancel the transaction...I was polite and told her I would just wait the 3 weeks until her vacation ended and she could just complete the transaction when she retuned...so I waited and waited and waited, and then 3 weeks later she cancelled the transaction and refunded my money anyway!!! >Sad
RC Spooky Stanley is still classified as cancelled with a never released status, but damn I had one!! Well...sooooooo close but it somehow got away!!!

Another one that still sticks with lingering regret was an exclusive not sold in stores Trackmaster Lion of Sodor statue cargo car listed on eBay and discribed as an executive gift given to Fisher Price management for the release of the Lion of Sodor movie...I knew I should have bought it, but I let it go... "but it was $40" VS. "I knew it was rare"...
DANG IT!!! What was I thinking?!?!
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

That must be a ripoff. I could do that with a Sharpie marker.

I can share multiple experiences like that. For example, most of my eBay auctions that I find are always outbidded. Even if I bid over twice the starting price, the money in the seller's pocket is rarely mine.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.

I never bid until the last 7 seconds, and have studied the bidding patterns and buying history's of all those involved, then make a calculated bid maybe 2/3rds to 3x higher than the highest bid...with only 7 seconds left and 2 of those seconds as processing time, that leaves only 5 seconds for the outbidder to scramble to re-bid, but is never enough time for them to recover..Smile

the new zealand auction site i use we cant snipe. used to be able to, but they changed it. now, any bids within the last 2 minutes cause the auction to extend, like on jauce. one tactic i have employed, even with the extension, is to leave it til the last few seconds and hope like heck the other bidder has thought they have won and logged off. much like how i lost that big big loader
