We're still trying to figure out all it can do Super...I don't think it goes in reverse, but hoping it might have a faster gear though...just happy to be able to play around with it at the moment...Hoping to find some other demo post to give us some clues about its other functions, as well as more about the phone app.
There is a barcode scan stamp on the box that I am suspecting I am to somehow scan with my phone to down load the app? Idk quite yet, haven't looked into seeing if there might be a Tomy/Plarail app yet either?? We will just keep messing with it while we wait for more info to begin to surface.
Also, though it is technically "voice activated" it still sends its signal through infrared technology, which actually just relies on any sound inside the bullhorn to trigger and send the signal to the train via the beam, so the train isn't actually hearing the comand...so that said, we kept the video decent, but leave it to an 8 year old to realize that even burping into the bullhorn will make Thomas stop and go!! Lol bottom line though is that Tully really liked playing with a train again!!

The barcode you are seeing is likely whats known as a QR code, there are a number of apps for reading them with your phones camera. That being said this is the app associated with the product: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...omas&hl=ja

The app itself is pretty limited in use, and from what I gather from the manual it cannot work without the megaphone.

Yes sinkillerj's thank you...I took a crash course in high tech world of QR encryption and scanning just last night!! Downloded the an app to read it but the link pops up as "forbidden" and it seems like it is run from a server that is blocked here in America?? Is that possible?
Either way, I spent hours trying to walk through the setup, but each time I was denied access to: http://www.takaratomyfans.com/
