New or Vintage???

Is this something new, a remake perhaps or something quite vintage. Never seen a box like that either. Translation says "Ultra Q Episode 28 Monochrome version of the Romancecar" Tomy made this in red but grey? Sure looks different. Any ideas...information?

as you can see it is post Tomy red logo pre Takara Tomy logo so it is relatively recent. It is a train from a Japanese Television Show. I cannot tell you much more other than that it is just a grey version of and old Odayku Romance Car.
Thanks for the information Gerisplarail1

I had no clue this was from a TV series. I did look at the Tomy Logo but was so unsure because this whole box design looks so different. Because of your information I did a little further snooping and I am assuming that this train is grey is to simulate the show which was black and white in the 60's and......the train fly's, LOL (see video below). There were only 28 episodes of the show so I am not sure why this set is billed as Episode 28 unless it was only in the last episode. So there isn't any info if this was just released and that maybe Tomy will be getting into some nostalgic type train releases from the old days. Hmmm, maybe a Godzilla train lol. I think there are also 3 Plakids in this black and white scheme that comes with this set. Now that I know why this train is gray, I like it. Smile

Wow! That train is is grey to match the show itself. I googled it and the show both started and ended in 1966, so that product is vintage, and it may be some of the only ones!

Even the 3 Plakids that come with this train represent the people in the show and are also in the same black and white Television color scheme. I am not so sure it is a vintage Tomy release as I have now seen some unboxing YouTube videos that go back only to 2013. Another note of interest with that neat Tomy box is that for this release the box is a lift off top as opposed to the end flaps Tomy box that we are used to.

Wow where'd you get the 8000 series? Thanks for the welcoming. Do they make 50000 series?

My memory isn't always the way it should be but I seem to recall talking about the 50000 somewhere.
