Rarest Plarail/Tomy Trains

The chrome 583 Series is very prone to paint damage by oil and sweat on hands so rubber gloves are recommended. I think it will be a hassle to store it properly, that is why the high price.

I have no luck on finding a silver TGV at a good price. Looking for one that is below 16000 yen but still no hope because the average price is more than 55000 yen today...

I must have been lucky with my new in the box Chrome 583 Series because I think I paid around 9000yen.

I find that all the 3 Train Multi packs seem to always have at least one Exclusive, Rare train in them, was this by design by Plarail?

9000 yen, only? That is very much a bargain. From Yahoo Auctions?

Yes from the Yahoo Auctions a couple years ago. I can't remember if it was up in auction or was a 'Buy It Now'

Some of my favorite trains were rare ones that came in those 3 packs like the Brown DE10 and the Green DE10. Very hard to find them being sold separately for a good price. I am sure I have some others from the 3 packs but can't think of them off hand.

Totally forgot this one, the box of the limited release Romance Car 50000 Series.



It is also included in the Odakyu Special Set, but the single item box is almost a phantom gem of year 2000 and newer.

Wait...that Romance Car VSE 50000 Series is Rare??? I have one of those but didn't think it was rare. I like the old version better than the recent re-make and I sold off the remake because it wasn't as good.

There is a very big difference in the box. I heard that the versions of the trains are slightly different but I don't have them to compare. I know that the intermediate car is different.

I think they are identical, just a box generation difference. I know that the limited release version has a different intermediate car than the normal versions. Not sure about the leading and tail cars.

The only thing I liked about the new re-released one is it has the newer chassis that screwed on from the bottom which eliminated those big bulky side clips on the engine. The rest I wasn't impressed with.
