The 2024 Tobu Fan Festa will be held on the 1st of December at the Minami-Kurihashi Depot (about an hour on the Tobu Skytree and Tobu Nikko lines from Oshiage (Skytree) station in downtown Tokyo). This will be the 18th time this event has been held since the first in 2005.

It will be marked by the release of a new limited edition Plarail Tobu Railway 50000 series.

The full name of the product is said to be "Plarail Tobu Railway 50000 Series 50000, 50050, 50070 (excluding 51001F)", though it's not clear how they are going to fit all that on the box! Destination stickers for various lines will be included.

The exclusion is explained by the fact that the first 50000 series car built, 51001F, has a unique configuration at the front of the cab compared with the rest of the series; it lacks the emergency exit door, the window is a different shape, and the headlights are in a different position.

Not surprisingly, this is going to look quite similar to the Tobu Railway 50000 series 50090 type that was released in July this year. The 50090 is exclusively used on the 'TJ Liner' trains, and is distinguished externally by its blue stripe.

Even though I am no much into the commuter trains I am always thrilled to hear about a new Limited Edition release. Thank you for the heads up Dr Chris 👍

Two new Seibu Railway trains to be released on December 8th:

The first is revised version of the Seibu Railway 001 series Laview, originally released as S-19 in 2019-21, and then again in 2023 as a Seibu limited edition, the difference this time being that "the yellow seats visible through the windows have been added, making it even cooler!". A matter of opinion, I think, since they're just stickers on the outside.

The second is a variant of the Seibu Railway 30000 series Smile Train. The original was a Seibu limited edition in 2018-21, when it was 30105 with 'Express Seibu-Shinjuku' on the destination board. This time it's 38110 and has a choice of this and three other destinations, 'Local Toshimaen', 'Semi-express Hanno', and 'Local Seibu-Shinjuku'.

Thanks for the heads up Dr Chris 😊👍
Possible new Plarail train dropping in the coming months: One Piece 700 Series Shinkansen. It's in brilliant blue, which is pretty unique since most Shinkansen have an all-white/grey or half-white/grey paint.

Just to clarify.

JR West will collaborate with the TV manga 'One Piece' to operate an original-design 'One Piece Shinkansen' on the Sanyo Shinkansen 'Kodama' between Shin-Osaka and Hakata. The train will be made up of eight 700-series cars, with three sets of trains planned to be introduced in succession. The first set, the 'Setouchi Blue', will begin operation in spring 2025. The exterior wrapping is based on the theme of 'Journey to the Setouchi Sea', and has a blue sea-themed design. It features characters from Straw Hat Pirates, including the main character Luffy.

Here is the JR West Press Release.

And this is their One Piece Shinkansen website. See if you can work out how to navigate it!

Yes I agree, it seems a good call that a Plarail version might appear sometime next year.
