(03-24-2022, 08:23 PM)chrisjo Wrote: Now I just have to wait for mine to be delivered by donkey cart (cheapest shipping option).

Arrived today!!!
Total time from shipping date = 104 days ( about 3.5 months )
Distance from Tokyo = 9662 km

Which means that the unfortunate animal had to walk / swim non-stop 24/7 over deserts, mountains and oceans at a little under 4km/hr. Well done that donkey!

That donkey has amazing stamina, he was just like 'The little train that could'. He never gave up and finally achieved the impossible 😋😋

Glad you have finally received your package Dr Chris 😃

I have often wondered exactly how/why a package takes this long to move around the world and what are the actual costs of shipping. My mind surmises that a Shipping Container must be completely filled for a particular Country before it is loaded onto a Container Ship. Then the time it takes for the ship to deliver to a Port of Call which I imaging it docks in several different country's. Then the time it takes unloading the container and possibly the ship reloading and on to another Port where your package is to go. There another unloading process along with where to place the container for Customs inspections. The time it takes to deliver the container to it final distribution site and then the long process of sorting what must be tens of thousands of packages inside one of those container. Now more time is taken once the sorting is complete move packages by ground to different parts of the destination Country before it gets to you... My mind just can't fathom that all this is cheaper but it must e.

Thanks, Super! I'm not overly impressed with these models: re-releases and these new ES Series trains... J-25 Nori Nori The station with pop-up people (previously seen in one of the sets) is nice:

The station would be even better (especially when connecting several stations in a row) if the platform went all the way to the end of the station.

Are those flat passengers automatically move?

I suppose they are "hidden" in the platform when the track is set to "GO". But when you change it to "STOP", they pop up, waiting for the train that is going to stop there. When you release the train, the passengers disappear again, because they "entered" the train, of course! Yes, the passengers are a bit flat, but it seems like a cool gimmick to me. 😊
