The folk over at "TrackMaster Village" have purchased and demonstrated the Real Steam Percy. Thankfully, he is just normal green and not metallic, as in the prototype photos.

I saw this one the other day. Really cool demo. Also if you are looking for the real steam Percy or Thomas they are available at toys r us again. Back in stock that is. Thanks.
I just wish the entire funnel (and water reservoir) didn't light up from outside like that. It really ruins the whole look when the engine is running. If not red, I would've expected a green light for Percy and a blue one for Thomas.
I agree with that, the light does distract from the steam and in fact I think I prefer the red light on the older steam Thomas as it gives the impression of the boiler fire rather than just a light. But there again maybe that's just me Smile

I sort of like the blue light, but do like the old one with the red too. Maybe you could easily use a red film to tint the led it swap it out? I do like the button to turn them on though. I wish it had some sort of sound, maybe a seperate switch, etc...
Film would probably be the way to go to change the colour, although you could replace the LED that would depend upon getting the right type, size, etc... That's a bit of a minefield these days as there are so many different types on the market Smile

Although I'm surprised they haven't included sound I can understand why as it's probably very difficult to fit it all into the body of the loco - maybe you'll get sound if they ever do a Gordon real steam lol!

Personally tho' I doubt I'll buy one, even if I could get one, purely because it won't run right on the older track without probably quite a bit of remedial work.

Thanks DalaGStanator for the link to the video.

I have to say I am not impressed with this. The blue light is off putting especially when it shines through the filling tube. The smoke doesn't seem to be as visible as the original Steam Along Thomas or the Real Steams engines made by Plarail/Tomy. At first I thought the idea of the two different plume of smoke effects was a great feature especially the sporadic puffs. But with the smoke being so light it is hard to see any effect. The sporadic puffs, if more visible, would certainly benefit with some chugging steam sounds. I always thought that the original Trackmaster and Plarail/Tomy would benefit more from a bright white LED to make the smoke more visible.

Seemed like the reservoir filled pretty fast, wonder how long the train runs before it needs another refill? I did get a good chuckle upon seeing the box error in mentioning Thomas when it should have been Percy....doh!
